We live in an age where vast amounts of information are being sent and received at a phenomenal rate. From all corners of the world right to our fingertips it can be hard to sift through all these messages and decide what is fact. More importantly what is relevant to our individual lives? We have been lead to believe that ‘What we think, we become’. It’s no secret that humanity’s increasing thoughts about our potential as an evolving species has many of us are stepping up to reclaim some kind of autonomy over our own lives. Just look at social media, the thousands of self-help yogis, motivational speakers, healers and spiritual enthusiasts that have emerged through its RSS (web) cracks. Why all the fuss about positive vibes? What exactly is thought, and how much power does it really have?
It may seem all new age and like a pseudo-modernism movement to take seriously, but the way we think has remained a large focus of many of humanities greatest leaders. Theories such as the Law of Attraction, books such as ‘The Secret’ and new age philosophers such as Eckhart Tolle and Deepak Chopra each have teachings rooted in the belief that a persons thoughts directly manifests life for them physically. Studies in quantum physics state that the human body is entirely made up of vibrating energy. The thoughts we have are merely an extension of this vibration. Each thought resonating at its own frequency, the purer the thought, and the higher the vibration. The purest of thoughts often occurring in moments of prayer and meditation, where purpose and intent is known to cross paths.
In my own life I have seen the power of thought play out. Having struggled with moments of anxiety and depression I know just how convincing our thoughts can be even when they are rooted in nothing but fear. It wasn’t until I learned the art of the mindfulness technique; paying careful attention to my thoughts that I became aware of how debilitating the cycle of negative thoughts is. When I made the conscious decision to dedicate myself to a more positive mode of thinking I noticed my life start to change almost immediately. Moreover, once I made the overall decision to actively focus my thoughts and intentions on manifesting the life I truly wanted I noticed I began attracting like-minded people sharing a very similar vision. While the bulk of my own personal changes have happened internally in places closest to me, it is this change in perception that has given me a fresh outlook on life. Making the choice to think positively where possible allows each of us the freedom to explore and embrace the thoroughgoing of all our experiences.
In a world where we have little control over many of the elements it’s reassuring to know that when all is said and done, our thoughts emanating from us remains entirely in our own hands.
